Huge Wins for Democrats and for America

Democrat Ralph Northam has just been declared the winner of the Virginia gubernatorial race, and Democrat Phil Murphy has been declared the winner of the New Jersey gubernatorial race.

The Virginia race was critical for Democrats to be able to push back against Trumpism. While polls consistently showed a Northam win by several points, t he race narrowed in the last two weeks. Republican Ed Gillespie ran a racist campaign, and was supported in his efforts, at least online, by President Trump.

Democrat Danica Roem unseated anti-LGBT Republican Bob Marshall in a Virginia House of Delegates race. She becomes the first transgender state legislator in America.

This is the first election in the Trump era.
