‘Did Not Embrace Me’: Trump Throws Virginia Republican He Endorsed, Who Just Lost, Under the Bus

‘We Will Continue to Win, Even Bigger Than Before!’ Trump Promised, Despite Losing

True to form, President Donald Trump has just blasted a fellow Republican he endorsed after that candidate lost the election Tuesday night. Trump attacked Republican Ed Gillespie, who just lost the Virginia gubernatorial election.

Trump had tweeted Gillespie “will turn the really bad Virginia economy #’s around, and fast. Strong on crime, he might even save our great statues/heritage,” in a dog whistle to racists two weeks ago.

Ralph Northam, who is running for Governor of Virginia,is fighting for the violent MS-13 killer gangs & sanctuary cities,” Trump also tweeted, in an incredibly racist and totally false claim. “Vote Ed Gillespie!”

Ed Gillespie will be a great Governor of Virginia. His opponent doesn’t even show up to meetings/work, and will be VERY weak on crime!”

The state of Virginia economy, under Democrat rule, has been terrible,” Trump falsely tweeted. If you vote Ed Gillespie tomorrow, it will come roaring back!

The Democrats in the Southwest part of Virginia have been abandoned by their Party. Republican Ed Gillespie will never let you down!”

But Tuesday night, minutes after the Virginia race was called for the Democrat, Ralph Northam, Trump distanced himself from Northam, complaining he did not “embrace” him.

Trump was late for a speech he was supposed to deliver to the South Korean National Assembly, but still took the time to tweet his attack on Gillespie.

This is not the first time Trump has backed a losing candidate, then tossed them under the bus.

In the Alabama special election to fill the U.S. Senate seat formerly held by Jeff Sessions, Trump had backed Luther Strange, but as soon as Strange lost, Trump actually deleted several tweets he had posted in support of Strange.

Trump also rushed to congratulate Roy Moore, a racist, homophobic birther and far right religious extremist, who beat Strange. Trump told voters he will support Moore, tweeting the twice-removed former state Supreme Court Chief Justice will Make America Great Again.
