WATCH: Crowd Chants ‘Four More Years’ as Barack Obama Campaigns for Democrat in NJ Governor’s Race

‘That Will Not Happen’ Obama Quipped

“Four more years!” “Four more years!”

That’s how the crowd, who stood on line for hours, greeted former President Barack Obama in Newark, New Jersey at a rally to support the Democratic nominee for governor, Phil Murphy. The former president, wearing no tie, seemed glad to be back on stage in his first political campaign appearance since leaving office in January.

Obama laughed jovially, but ultimately, had to refuse.

“I will refer you to both the Constitution, as well as to Michelle Obama, to explain why that will not happen,” President Obama quipped in response to the chants.

Murphy, as The Hill notes, is Obama’s former ambassador to Germany. He reportedly has a strong lead agaisnt Republican Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno, but Democrats, the president warned, cannot afford to become complacent.
