WATCH: ‘Trump’ Returns to Saturday Night Live, Weekend Update Obliterates President’s Puerto Rico Response

“You Just Did This For White People Twice” 

After its record 22 Emmy nominations and nine wins, including an Emmy for Alec Baldwin’s portrayal of Donald Trump last year, “Saturday Night Live” (SNL) returned for its 43rd season without pulling any presidential punches. 

The show wasted no time with Baldwin’s return as the president, in a cold open sketch entitled “The Chaos President” set in the Oval Office. The show immediately addressed Trump’s attack on San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz and “lazy” Puerto Ricans who want “everything to be done for them.”

Trump, who reignited his attacks on “politically motivated ingrates” criticizing federal response in Puerto Rico early Sunday from his golf course, was portrayed in his golf attire. Notably, sketch also featured Melissa Villaseñor as San Juan’s heroic and Trump-targeted mayor, Aidy Bryant as “no nonsense because I’m all nonsense” Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Kate McKinnon as the embattled Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Later in the episode, after a successful “Summer Edition” of the show’s “Weekend Update,” came Michael Che’s now-viral response to Donald Trump’s handling of Puerto Rico.

It addressed his attacks on the mayor head-on. “This isn’t that complicated, man, it’s hurricane relief, these people need help,” Che said. “You just did this for white people twice.”
