‘Google Fascism’: Internet Outraged Over Trump Threatening NBC’s License
Report Shows Commander-in-Chief Wants Exponential Nuclear Weapons Increase
Just six days ago White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters President Donald Trump is “an incredible advocate of the First Amendment.” Just minutes ago President Donald Trump threatened the broadcasting license of NBC, for an NBC News report that found in July Trump told his top national security officials he wanted a tenfold increase in the number of nuclear weapons in America’s arsenal.
Fake @NBCNews made up a story that I wanted a “tenfold” increase in our U.S. nuclear arsenal. Pure fiction, made up to demean. NBC = CNN!

With all of the Fake News coming out of NBC and the Networks, at what point is it appropriate to challenge their License? Bad for country!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 11, 2017
The First Amendment is very clear. Assuming the president has never read it, here it is:
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
The president, according to reports, has been furious about the news Secretary of State Rex Tillerson had called him a “moron” this summer. The NBC News report reveals Tillerson’s remark came just after and in response to Trump telling the Pentagon of his desires to exponentially increase the nation’s nuclear capabilities.Â
Trump’s war on the press, as many on social media noted in the wake of his tweets Wednesday morning, is approaching fascism.
Trump threatening the FCC license of networks that report anything negative on him.
Google fascism.

You expect this rhetoric from an authoritative dictator, not the president of the United States. https://t.co/3t9fwLGGoU

So he is a dictator now? Change tax laws for NFL, go after NBC’s license. Get private citizens suspended. This is fascism.

And now our excuse for a President suggests NBC’s broadcast license should be pulled. We creep toward fascism a… https://t.co/2LLZW2rboo

Attempting to shut down media outlets is fascism, plain and simple. Trump could care less about the 1st Amendment. https://t.co/h3CD7Mf0hW

More responses via Twitter:
Dear @realDonaldTrump: What makes America great is that the First Amendment protects the press. Even morons should know that. #MAGA https://t.co/sOd3xsLBAu

If freedom of the press becomes a Democrat vs a Republican issue in the US, democracy will die. Informed consent is the bedrock of democracy https://t.co/j8CA2lMeSp

Just the President threatening to close down the news media for reporting critically. https://t.co/o19WHsnvQB

Trump thinks the 1st Amendment is there to protect HIM from the free press.
It’s the other way around, dipshit.https://t.co/5kgRaTAQ2N
