Trump Says Clinton, Bush, Obama Failed to Handle ‘Rocket Man’ for 25 Years (Kim Jong Un is 33)
‘I Won’t Fail’
Perhaps in an effort to change the narrative from the federal government’s lackluster response to Puerto Rico and Donald Trump’s attacks on the island’s suffering Americans, the president again returned his Twitter fury to Kim Jong Un.
Early Sunday, Trump flirted with nuclear war, threatening that “we’ll do what needs to be done†in North Korea. He further instructed Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, on Twitter, that he was “wasting his time by trying to negotiate with Little Rocket Man†and to “save [his] energy.â€
Now, the president has advised that “being nice to Rocket Man hasn’t worked in 25 years.†He then inquired “why it would work now?†and claimed that Presidents Clinton, Bush and Obama “failed.â€
“I won’t fail,†he asserted.
Being nice to Rocket Man hasn’t worked in 25 years, why would it work now? Clinton failed, Bush failed, and Obama failed. I won’t fail.

Of note: Kim Jong Un is 33 years old. Many on Twitter quickly pointed this fact out:
Kim Jong Un was negotiating with Bill Clinton at age 8?! https://t.co/ipS7neyOWA

It would have been weird for Clinton to take a hardline stance with 8 year old Kim Jong-un (when his grandfather was in power) 25 years ago. https://t.co/9wMPyUTgY5

A good place to start would be knowing Kim Jong Un hasn’t been the only leader of North Korea for the past 25 years. https://t.co/sXe1P4Q27P

Also who wants to remind @realDonaldTrump that Kim Jong Un has not been in power for 25 years? Rex? Kelly? Anyone? pic.twitter.com/Tc5X2OkR1n

Not everyone picked up on the discrepancy, however, like one of the president’s sons:

Don’t worry, someone told him:
You do realize that there have been 3 leaders in those 25 years? That necessitates diff action. Kim jong un has been in power for 5.5 yrs. 🤔

It isn’t the first time Americans have questioned if Donald Trump truly knew who the leader of North Korea was.Â
In April of this year, when asked if he was ruling out a military strike in the region, Trump told Fox & Friends’ Ainsley Earhardt that “they’ve been talking with this gentlemen for a long time.â€
“You read Clinton’s book, he said, ‘Oh, we made such a great peace deal,’ and it was a joke,†he continued. “You look at different things over the years with President Obama. Everybody has been outplayed, they’ve all been out played by this gentleman.Â
“And we’ll see what happens,†Trump concluded. “But I just don’t telegraph my moves.â€
Donald Trump’s tweets came just before he arrived at Liberty State Park for the President’s Cup golf tournament, having spent the weekend at his golf club:
