Trump Dismisses Diplomacy, Says ‘Only One Thing Will Work!’ with North Korea
Calm Before the Storm?
Following Donald Trump’s 89th visit to a Trump property and 69th to one of his golf courses today, the President of the United States returned to Twitter Saturday afternoon to once again dismiss diplomacy with North Korea.
“Presidents and their administrations have been talking to North Korea for 25 years,†Trump tweeted, “agreements made and massive amounts of money paid……â€

“…hasn’t worked,†he continued five minutes later, “agreements violated before the ink was dry, makings [sic] fools of U.S. negotiators. Sorry, but only one thing will work!â€

Of note, Donald Trump seems to have shied away from his comments last Sunday. The president falsely claimed that Presidents Clinton, Bush and Obama had “failed†with “being nice to Rocket Man.†(Kim Jong Un is 33 years old, which the Internet quickly reminded him.)
Preceding this, the president flirted with nuclear war, threatening that “we’ll do what needs to be done†in North Korea. He then instructed Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, on Twitter, that he was “wasting his time by trying to negotiate with Little Rocket Man†and to “save [his] energy.â€
This week, following a dinner meeting with his generals and their spouses, the president told reporters that a photo op was “maybe… the calm before the storm.†When pressed to elaborate, Trump simply insisted “you’ll find out.â€
The president’s habits on Twitter do little to quell critics who believe he is attempting to sow worldwide chaos.
Some responses:
Trump is the most dangerous man in the world. Congress needs to intervene now & take his ability to start a preemptive war. #NorthKorea pic.twitter.com/DKm9ljqekW

RT if you don’t want to go to war with North Korea just because Trump’s approval ratings are at a record low for any president ever. pic.twitter.com/mU6gzs68R9

Dear @realDonaldTrump: Is that one thing you resigning? I’m sure your generals told you there are zero good military options against N Korea https://t.co/uDIBg2ZQPr
