Fallen Soldier’s Mother Confirms President Disrespected Her Son – Trump Denies Accusation

‘I Had a Very Nice Conversation With the Woman, With the Wife’ Trump Says

The mother of a soldier killed in action is confirming a widespread account that President Donald Trump told the soldier’s widow “he knew what he was getting into.” But President Trump totally denies he made the remarks, instead saying they had a “very nice” conversation.

“I had a very nice conversation with the woman, with the wife who was — sounded like a lovely woman. Did not say what the congresswoman said, and most people aren’t too surprised to hear that,” Trump told a reporter late Wednesday morning. “I didn’t say what that congresswoman said; didn’t say it all. She knows it,” Trump added, as The Washington Post reports.

The congresswoman is U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-FL) who was in the car with Myeshia Johnson, the widow of U.S. Army Sgt. La David Johnson, when President Trump called. Rep. Wilson says Trump told Mrs. Johnson her late husband “knew what he signed up for …but when it happens it hurts anyway.”

Wilson also says Mrs. Johnson was distraught because Trump didn’t remember her husband’s name when speaking with her.

And now, when speaking to a reporter, Trump apparently also couldn’t remember Mrs. Wilson’s name.

Now, the mother of Sgt. Johnson, who says she too was in the car, confirms what Rep. Wilson told reporters.

Cowanda Jones-Johnson “told The Washington Post that she was present during the call from the White House on Tuesday to Johnson’s widow, Myeshia Johnson,” The Post reports. “Johnson’s mother also stood by an account of the call from Rep. Frederica S. Wilson (D-Fla.) that Trump told Johnson’s widow that her husband ‘must have known what he signed up for.'”

“President Trump did disrespect my son and my daughter and also me and my husband,” Jones-Johnson said.
