Why Is Lara Trump, Who Is Not a White House Employee, Getting Extraordinary Access to White House Information?

Lara Trump Read Transcript of President’s Call to Gold Star Mother. White House Has Refused to Release It Publicly.

Unlike her brother-in-law Jared Kushner, and her sister-in-law Ivanka Trump, Lara Trump is not a White House employee, and yet she is getting extraordinary access to White House information, access presumably no one else outside the White House has. Lara Trump is the wife of Eric Trump, the president’s second son. A former “Inside Edition” producer, Lara is now apparently working for the Trump re-election campaign. An AP article Friday notes she is the host of the Trump campaign’s “news” reports, Facebook videos that present the administration’s work the way the administration wants it presented.

Like this:

Which still does not explain why she is being granted extraordinary access to the White House.

On Friday, in an interview with “Fox & Friends,” as ThinkProgress reports, Lara Trump acknowledged having read the transcript of President Trump’s call with Myeshia Johnson, the widow of U.S. Army Sgt. La David Johnson. The President’s call to Johnson has been one of the biggest stories of the week, after he said to the grieving widow her husband “knew what he was getting into” when he joined the military.

Fox News’ Ainsley Earhardt point-blank said to Lara, “You read the transcripts, what were your thoughts?”

Why would Lara Trump have access to the transcripts? They have not been made, public, despite the media’s attempts to obtain them. (And frankly, is there any reason Americans should believe the transcripts are accurate, given this administration’s penchant for lying?)

Ironically, Lara tells Fox News “this is just a clear case of the media not doing their job. Whenever you read exactly what he said, he said, ‘Your husband went in to battle know he could be injured, knowing he could be killed and he still did it because he loves his country.'”

No one outside the White House, except Lara Trump, presumably, has been allowed to read that transcript, so how, exactly, is the media not doing its job? But of course, Lara Trump didn’t mention that on Fox News.

But that’s not all.

As Citizens for Ethics noted on Twitter, why is Lara Trump – again, not a White House employee – attending a White House meeting?

These are the two events we know of. Has Lara Trump been given access to other White House information or events? There’s a fine line between what the Trump administration can and cannot do in the White House regarding re-election. Are those laws being followed?
