Hillary Clinton Blasts Harvey Weinstein

‘Shocked and Appalled’

Hillary Clinton has issued a statement blasting Harvey Weinstein after a New York Times article detailed acts of sexual harassment by the Hollywood producer. Other women have since come forward, accusing Weinstein not only of sexual harassment but of rape.

“I was shocked and appalled by the revelations about Harvey Weinstein. The behavior described by women coming forward cannot be tolerated. Their courage and the support of others is critical in helping to stop this kind of behavior,” Clinton said through her communications director.

Weinstein was fired by the board of directors of The Weinstein Company Sunday night.

Some have criticized Clinton, her husband the former president, and former President Barack Obama for not having spoken out, given that Weinstein is a top Democratic donor. Others say the Clintons and Obamas are no longer involved in day-to-day politics, and Clinton is speaking out after a long holiday weekend.

Now that Clinton has spoken out, some are asking if she intends to return the donations Weinstein made to her campaign.
