Gays Against Guns Rallies Against Las Vegas Massacre With Protest March to NYC’s Times Square
‘We Want Gun Control – When Do We Want It? Now!’
Chanting “Hey hey, ho ho, gun violence has got to go,” and “Fuck the NRA,” Gays Against Guns held a rally in response to the Sunday night massacre in Las Vegas that left 59 people dead and 527 wounded. The group and others, including the NYC Light Brigade, and Rise and Resist, gathered in New York City’s Union Square Monday evening, holding a giant rainbow banner that read “Gays Against Guns.” They held up and waved signs saying, “Shoot loads not guns,” “NRA sashay away,” “Not my president,” “Resist guns everywhere,” and “Trump and LaPierre: In love with gun violence,” as they marched around the park popular with activists protesting social and political issues.
The protestors stopped at the southern edge of the park and gathered as a speaker told passersby that gay people had responded to another health crisis in the ’80’s, HIV/AIDS, and they are applying the same techniques to the health crisis of gun violence.
Gun violence is curable! We can prevent Americans from getting slaughtered. Gays Against Guns with Rise and Resist marches in mourning, with anger and resolve.

Among the protestors were the now-iconic “angels,” people dressed all in white, representing the 49 victims of the Orlando Pulse massacre.

The chant moved on to, “NRA: How many kids did you kill today?” and, “We want gun control – When do we want it? Now!” As the marchers attracted more supporters, the rally-goers marched north up to Times Square, where they joined an even larger protest.
