Breaking: Trump Fails to Denounce Roy Moore’s Anti-Gay Positions – Announces He Will Meet With Him
Trump Calls Moore by First Name
President Donald Trump, who has promised to campaign for “Judge” Roy Moore, Monday afternoon failed to denounce the twice-booted former Alabama state Supreme Court chief justice’s anti-gay positions. Instead, Trump announced he will be meeting with Moore next week. Trump was responding to a reporter who told the President that Moore “has said that homosexuality should be illegal and Muslims should be barred from serving in the U.S. Congress.”
Instead of denouncing Moore’s positions, Trump refused to comment specifically at a hastily-called impromptu press conference Monday afternoon.
Announcing he would be meeting with “Judge’ Moore next week, Trump called him “Roy,” noting that Moore “ran a very strong race,” and that the people of Alabama also “like Roy.”

Trump had backed Moore’s opponent, Luther Strange. Strange lost to Moore in the runoff primary, and Moore in December will be facing Democrat Doug Jones.
Earlier Monday The New Yorker reported Trump has “joked” that Vice President Mike Pence would “hang” all gay people.
Also earlier Monday NCRM was among the first to report that Moore’s Twitter followers include apparently tens of thousands of Russian bots. It’s unclear why they are following the Alabama Republican, and if the Moore campaign paid for them as followers.
