Trump Says He Will Have to Weigh ‘Big Decisions’ on Cost of Rebuilding Puerto Rico

Promised Texas and Florida He Would Help Them ‘RESTORE, RECOVER, & REBUILD!’

There’s no question that Texas an Florida were devastated by hurricanes, but Puerto Rico was destroyed. And yet, President Donald Trump’s response to the destruction in Texas and Florida was more immediate, supportive, and greater overall, while his response to the absolutely and near-total destruction of Puerto Rico almost always focuses on the financial costs.

Friday morning Trump tweeted that “Big decisions will have to be made as to the cost” of rebuilding Puerto Rico. He never once said that about Texas, Florida, or thew surrounding states that suffered hurricane damage.

To get a better idea of how Trump is thinking about the U.S. mainland versus Puerto Rico, take a look at these tweets Trump has posted:

Texas:

Florida:

Puerto Rico:

And even today:

And as usual, Trump is trying to spin the tremendous lack of leadership from the White House, and focused on how he is being treated in the press:

And to be fair, there were tweets such as this, but they are few and focused, again, on his image, and only after tremendous criticism:

So, to sum up, in states where Trump won, which have people who can vote in the presidential election, he promises “we will be w/you EVERY SINGLE DAY AFTER, to RESTORE, RECOVER, & REBUILD!”

In Puerto Rico, which is a U.S. territory with nearly 3.5 million U.S. citizens, who cannot vote for president, he is focused on the cost of rebuilding.
