Graham-Cassidy ‘Would End the Current Health Law’s Guarantee That Sick People Won’t Pay Higher Premiums’

President Donald Trump is just flat-out lying now about the Republicans’ latest attempt to “repeal and replace” ObamaCare. The problem is so is everyone else, and it’s working. There is increasingly a chance this version of TrumpCare could pass, literally tossing millions off their coverage.

The latest version of TrumpCare, aka “Graham-Cassidy,” is by far the worst, and Republicans are slated to vote on it next week. It blatantly allows insurance companies to charge people with pre-existing conditions an unlimited amount of money, which makes it worthless to so many.

At least three Republican Senators need to vote against the bill in order for it to fail. If less than three Republicans vote no it will become law. It’s really that simple.

So what did President Trump just do?

He lied.

“I would not sign Graham-Cassidy if it did not include coverage of pre-existing conditions. It does! A great Bill. Repeal & Replace,” Trump said, just two weeks after demanding Republican stop trying to repeal and replace ObamaCare and try to pass his disastrous tax cuts for the wealthy bill.

So, does Graham-Cassidy protect people with pre-existing conditions?

No.

No, it does not.

Earlier Wednesday Bloomberg News reported on the Graham-Cassidy legislation. Trump is wrong. Period.

“The latest effort to repeal Obamacare — which Senate GOP leaders hope to pass next week — would end the current health law’s guarantee that sick people won’t pay higher premiums,” Bloomberg News reports. 

“Under the latest Republican bill, states could get a waiver allowing insurers to charge people more if they or a dependent have a pre-existing condition, or if they get sick and want to keep their insurance. The key provision in the bill has vague language requiring a state to first show how it ‘intends to maintain access to adequate and affordable health insurance coverage for individuals with pre-existing conditions.'”

So, Trump is just lying now – or maybe he believes the lies, but regardless, he’s literally telling millions of Ameircans, many who believe everything he says, a lie.
