Calls Bill ‘Deeply Flawed’
GOP U.S. Senator Susan Collins of Maine just doomed the Republican Party’s latest attempt to “repeal and replace” ObamaCare by announcing she is a “no” on the Graham-Cassidy bill. Collins Joins Senators Rand Paul (R-KY) and John McCain (R-AZ), who have both say they will vote against the legislation that would steal health care coverage from millions while removing protections from those with pre-existing conditions.
“Health care is a deeply personal, complex issue that affects every single one of us and one-sixth of the American economy,” Collins said in a statement. “Sweeping reforms to our health care system and to Medicaid can’t be done well in a compressed time frame, especially when the actual bill is a moving target. Today, we find out that there is now a fourth version of the Graham-Cassidy proposal, which is as deeply flawed as the previous iterations.”
Senators Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) have also expressed strong reservations against the Graham-Cassidy bill.Â
All Democratic U.S. Senators oppose the bill as well.
President Trump once again has done little to try to pass the ObamaCare repeal bill, preferring to tweet about NFL players over the weekend. A vote, according to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, was to take place this week.
