Steve Bannon Attacks the Pope and Catholic Bishops: ‘They Need Illegal Aliens to Fill the Churches’

Pope and Bishops Are ‘Just Another Guy With an Opinion’

Former Trump Chief Strategist Steve Bannon in his first TV interview since leaving the White House attacked the Catholic Church for its support of DACA. Now back at the head of Breitbart, the website he called “the platform for the alt-right,” Bannon lashed out at the Catholic Bishops for their very vocal support of DACA.

“Can I remind you a good Catholic, Cardinal Dolan, is opposed to what’s happening with DACA,” CBS’ Charlie Rose pressed Bannon, in a clip of an interview that airs on Sunday’s “60 Minutes.”

“The Catholic Church has been terrible about this,” Bannon replied. “The bishops have been terrible about this.”

“You know why? Because unable to really, to come to grips with the problems in the Church, they need illegal aliens, they need illegal aliens to fill the churches,” Bannon claimed. “It’s obvious on the face of it.”

The bishops “have an economic interest in unlimited immigration, unlimited illegal immigration.”

“This is not about doctrine,” Bannon added, claiming he respects the Pope and the bishops but said on this “they’re just another guy with an opinion.”
