Sarah Huckabee Sanders Went on ‘The View’ Today. It Didn’t Go Well. (Video)

‘We Have to Be Honest, That’s Our Obligation to the American People’ Sarah Huckabee Sanders Says. She Should Resign.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders made a rare appearance Wednesday morning – neither at the White House Press Room podium nor on Fox News, but on ABC’s “The View.” It did not go well for her.

Huckabee Sanders was in one way or another criticized or attacked by Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, and Sara Haines. Skewered, you could say, as “The View” does: respectfully but strongly and firmly.

This was possibly the most important interview Huckabee Sanders has ever given. She began by answering criticisms that she and her boss, President Trump, have been waging war on “the media.”

“During the discussion, View co-host Sara Haines implored Sanders not to label all of the media ‘fake news.’ But Sanders insisted the Trump administration had the right to call out media outlets that published false information,” Raw Story’s Eric Dolan reports.

“Is the media not supposed to report on the fact that 95 percent of what [Trump] says is a lie?” co-host Joy Behar interjected.

“The problem with that, Joy, that is — you are doing exactly what you’re talking about and pushing a false narrative,” Sanders shot back.

“No it’s not,” Behar said. “It’s from PolitiFact. It’s not just the dreaded New York Times, it is other outlets that say it.”

Not only did she defend the administration’s constant attacks but she revealed a hugely important and hitherto unknown but vital fact: she knows what facts are, and she knows what truth is. And we know this because while sitting at the table on “The View,” she defined them for us.

Which means that she has not just been spewing administration talking points all year, she has been actively, knowingly, and wittingly lying to the American people from the White House. And that’s unconscionable.

Huckabee Sanders, who appeared alongside her father, former Arkansas governor and GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, told “The View” co-hosts that there’s always “a little bit of friction” between any White House and the press corps, as if what’s happening in the Trump era is normal – to be clear, it is anything but.

After literally using her boss’ now infamous “both sides” argument, here’s where she went wrong, and effectively admitted she has been lying:

“We have to be forthcoming, we have to be honest, that’s our obligation to the American people.”

In that statement, Huckabee Sanders indicted herself. because what she has been doing for months, and even before the president took office, is lie for Trump.

While PolitiFact has only rated two of Huckabee Sanders’ statements, it rated both of them false:

“The president in no way, form or fashion has ever promoted or encouraged violence.”

False.

“Everybody acts like President Trump is the one that came up with this idea. … There are multiple news outlets that have reported” [that former President Barack Obama ordered wiretapping on Trump.]”

False.

PolitiFact has also rated hundreds of Donald Trump’s statements. The vast majority, while not 95% false as Joy Behar charged today, are varying degrees of false. 69% are mostly, totally, or “Pants on Fire” false. Just 17% are true or mostly true.

In July, GLAAD, the world’s LGBTQ media advocacy organization, “released a fact check calling out White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders for peddling lies surrounding President Donald Trump’s announcement … to ban transgender soldiers from openly serving in ‘any capacity’ within the United States armed forces.”

In August, Talking Points Memo published a story with this headline: “Sanders Says It’s Not ‘Appropriate To Lie’ But Defends Bogus Trump Claims.”

And it turns out, she knew it all along:

The list of examples of Sarah Huckabee Sanders lying, spreading false information, just not telling the American people what she calls “the whole truth” is long. There’s no doubt she’s been lying, and now that she’s rold us she knows what the standard is for a White House Press Secretary, she should resign.

But we know she won’t, so let’s go back to her interview with “The View.”

Watch as Whoopi Goldberg asks Sarah Huckabee Sanders, “Where was President Obama born and is he an American citizen?” And watch her wriggle out of that.

Watch the entire clip.

Again, time for Huckabee Sanders to resign.
