President Trump Declares Sunday a National Day of Prayer
President Surrounded by 15 Faith Leaders
President Donald Trump has just declared Sunday to be a national day of prayer to support the victims of Hurricane Harvey.
Surrounded by 15 faith leaders and Vice President Mike Pence, Trump read the declaration before the cameras, mentioning those who have lost friends and family to Hurricane Harvey.

As seen in this photograph posted by Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, among those present in the Oval Office was right wing extremist Dr. Robert Jeffress, a strong Trump ally and frequent Fox News contributor. In the video, Trump calls the faith based leaders surrounding him “highly respected.”

The president called them “evangelical leaders, Christian leaders,” before pausing, presumably because there may not have been any other faiths represented.
This is the second time President Trump has declared a national day of prayer. The first was an annual event in May, which he apparently forgot, as he says in the video this has not been done in a long time. President Barack Obama also declared a day in May a National Day of Pray during each on his eight years in office.Â
