In Private, Paul Ryan Admits There’s No Chance Trump’s Border Wall Will Ever Get Built

‘Only One Person Wants a Wall’

House Speaker Paul Ryan has privately admitted there is no chance President Donald Trump‘s border wall will ever get built. At a private dinner this summer, Ryan went as far as to acknowledge that “only one” of his House Republican supports building a wall on the nation’s southern border.

“Ryan told a group of Republicans he met with … that only one person wants a wall,” former GOP Rep. Tom Tancredo of Colorado, told Breitbart, the website run by former Trump White House chief strategist Steve Bannon. Both Tancredo and Bannon have offered support to the so-called “alt-right,” with Bannon infamously saying Breitbart is “the platform for the alt-right.”

An anti-immigrant activist, Tancredo is now an independent after a failed gubernatorial race. He was scheduled to speak at a white supremacist conference this summer, and was so angered when it was canceled he threatened to run for governor next year again.

“You have to understand the level of fear that exists in the Republican establishment about this issue,” Tancredo also told Breitbart, speaking about the border wall he and Trump want badly. Bannon has called Tancredo “one of the top immigration experts in this country,” which is not accurate.

“The Chamber of Commerce doesn’t want a wall,” Tancredo said, adding, “the pressure is greater from the Chamber of Commerce than it is from the members.”

“That’s the basic problem. It was then. It is now.”

The Breitbart article fails to mention Tancredo is also a Breitbart columnist.
