White House Releases Embarrassing Photo of Trump at Camp David with Pence Managing Hurricane Harvey
‘Going to a Cabinet Meeting (Tele-Conference) at 11:00 A.M. On #Harvey’ Trump Tweeted
Perhaps the White House thought these photos of President Donald Trump at Camp David and Vice President Mike Pence in the White House Situation Room would somehow make Trump look like he’s always working and able to manage any crisis from anywhere. They don’t.
In fact, they make it clear that the vice president, and not the president, is the one in charge of ensuring coordination of resources for states battling Hurricane Harvey.
For the second weekend in a row, for reasons entirely unknown, President Trump has stayed at Camp David. And for the second weekend in a row he has ordered the vice president to cancel his weekend plans – political trips – and stay at the White House.
Here’s what Trump tweeted Sunday, as Harvey was tearing in to Texas.
Going to a Cabinet Meeting (tele-conference) at 11:00 A.M. on #Harvey. Even experts have said they’ve never seen one like this!

Here’s an official White House photo of the President at Camp David during his “Cabinet Meeting” Sunday:
Here’s a close up. Notice what Trump has written on his pad?
(Nothing.)
The White House also sent reporters this photo of Sunday’s actual Cabinet Meeting in the Situation Room, where the Vice President was at the head of the table.

Pence, according to the White House, is surrounded by Chief of Staff Gen. John Kelly; Thomas Bossert, Homeland Security Advisor; U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin; Gen. Keith Kellogg, National Security Advisor Chief of Staff; U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke; U.S. Health and Human Service Secretary Tom Price; U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry; U.S. Secretary of Labor Alex Acosta; White House Deputy Chief of Staff Kirstjen Nielsen; Hope Hicks, interim Director of White House Communications; White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders; and William B. “Brock†Long, Administrator of FEMA.
Here’s a closer look. Trump is in the left circle, Pence in the right one:
