Embattled Trump White House Issues Talking Points Attacking the Left
Have you ever watched the news and heard Republicans say almost the exact same thing and wonder if they’re told to do so? The answer is yes. Every day the White House sends Republican members of Congress a set of talking points they would like them to repeat, to help advance the president’s agenda and pound the same message into America’s consciousness.Â
It works.
Tuesday evening, just hours after Trump’s Tuesday afternoon press event in Trump Tower, during which he supported white supremacists and neo-Nazis, and reverted back to his “both sides” argument that drew nationwide bipartisan condemnation on Saturday, the White House issued a set of talking points to GOP lawmakers.

Here’s what the Trump White House wants Americans to hear. A few excerpts:
“The President was entirely correct — both sides of the violence in Charlottesville acted inappropriately, and bear some responsibility.”
Trump “has been a voice for unity and calm, encouraging the country to ‘rediscover the bonds of love and loyalty that brings us together as Americans.'”
“The President condemned – with no ambiguity – the hate groups fueled by bigotry and racism over the weekend, and did so by name yesterday, but for the media that will never be enough.”
“From cop killing and violence at political rallies, to shooting at Congressmen at a practice baseball game, extremists on the left have engaged in terrible acts of violence.”
On Tuesday, to international horror, President Trump said, “You had a group on one side that was bad, and you had a group on the other side that was also very violent,†and, “you had some very bad people in that group, but you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides.”
“Very fine people”?
He then compared the founder our nation, America’s first president, George Washington, to Confederate general Robert E. Lee, who fought to terror the country apart.
Let’s stop for a moment and remember that this president, Donald Trump, in the wee hours of the morning on November 9 last year, when the results of the election were clear, delivered his speech saying he promised to be a president for all Americans.
“I pledge to every citizen of our land that I will be President for all of Americans, and this is so important to me. For those who have chosen not to support me in the past, of which there were a few people, I’m reaching out to you for your guidance and your help so that we can work together and unify our great country.”
That was a lie.
