Watch: President and First Lady Watch Solar Eclipse From White House

First Family Watches Rare Event

President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Ivanka Trump, Barron Trump, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross gathered together on the Truman Balcony of the White House to watch the first total solar eclipse to sweep the country in almost a century. (Washington, D.C viewers could not watch the total eclipse, but a partial eclipse.)

This slightly longer clip includes Barron Trump, the president’s youngest son.

Here is Sessions and Ross:

Monday’s eclipse has been described as the “most photographed, most shared, most tweeted event in human history,” The Washington Post reports. 200 million people in the U.S. were in an area that was affected by the eclipse.

Totality — when the sun is completely obscured by the moon — lasted just two minutes or so in each location along the narrow corridor stretching all the way across the U.S., from Oregon to Charleston, South Carolina. It took about 90 minutes for total blockage to cross the country.”
