Fourth CEO Quits Council as Trump Dares Them to Go

Pressure Mounts for Executives to #QuitTheCouncil

President Donald Trump has just lost his fourth CEO in two days in response to his lackadaisical response to white supremacism and handling of Saturday’s violence and murder surrounding the ideology.

CEO’s of Intel, Under Armour, and Merck on Monday quit Trump’s manufacturing jobs council.

Tuesday morning the President lost another, and it’s a big one.

Scott Paul, President of the Alliance for American Manufacturing, on Twitter announced simply, “I’m resigning from the Manufacturing Jobs Initiative because it’s the right thing for me to do.”

The Alliance for American Manufacturing is a non-profit, non-partisan coalition whose mission is “to explore common solutions to challenging public policy topics such as job creation, infrastructure investment, international trade, and global competitiveness.”

In other words, that’s exactly the group Trump should want on his council.

But apparently, he doesn’t care.

Paul posted his tweet at 11:37 AM.

Trump had posted this tweet just minutes earlier:

Meanwhile, public pressure is mounting for all CEO’s to quit the council. An LA Times columnist writes, “The question isn’t why Merck’s boss quit Trump’s CEO council; it’s why any other CEOs are staying.”

And there are still about two dozen CEO’s actively on the council. Politico’s Dan Diamond posted the undated list:

Business Insider just published a list also, including any comments they’ve made supporting their decision to remain.

There’s a hashtag for encouraging CEO’s to quit: #QuitTheCouncil.
