Trump Explodes His War Against Mitch McConnell in New Tweet

‘He Failed!’

President Donald Trump has spent much of Thursday morning tweeting, and most of his tweets are attacks against Congressional Republican leaders Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan – with his main attacks exploding his war against the Senate Majority Leader.

Earlier this week The New York Times reported on the “cold war” between Trump and McConnell. Their relationship has become so toxic McConnell – facing even worse approval numbers nationally and in his home state of Kentucky – was forced to issue a press release Wednesday insisting there’s no problem, their relationship is fine and they are able to work together to advance their agenda.

WHY THIS MATTERS: Infighting at the highest levels of the Republican Party means they will continue to be unable to advance their agenda, including repealing ObamaCare, tax cuts for the rich, building Trump’s Mexico wall, deporting millions of undocumented immigrants, and privatizing America’s infrastructure.

In response to McConnell’s attempt to calm the waters, an unnamed White House official told CNN the president has no intention of speaking with McConnell until after Labor Day.

And then Trump posted tweets attacking McConnell:

I requested that Mitch M & Paul R tie the Debt Ceiling legislation into the popular V.A. Bill (which just passed) for easy approval. They didn’t do it so now we have a big deal with Dems holding them up (as usual) on Debt Ceiling approval. Could have been so easy-now a mess!” he said across two tweets.

That was at 8:25 AM.

Shortly thereafter, McConnell delivered a speech and “offered mostly praise” for Trump at the Kentucky Farm Bureau’s annual ham breakfast Thursday morning, as CNN reports.

Yet little more than an hour after his first tweets attacking McConnell, Trump was back, targeting and blowing up the Kentucky Republican:

In all but calling McConnell a failure, he’s literally working to ensure his agenda goes nowhere.

This is war.

Which is fine with much of America.
