Trump Doubles Down on Steve Bannon Praise Following Ouster, Slams ‘Fake News’

Scared?

Donald Trump returned to Twitter Saturday afternoon to praise ousted White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon for the second time today.

“Steve Bannon will be a tough and smart new voice at Breitbart News,” the president wrote, “maybe even better than before. Fake News needs the competition!”

Both Donald Trump and Mike Pence praised Steve Bannon Saturday morning, thanking him for his service and noting the “distinction” with which he served.

Earlier this week, an unnamed source described as being close to the White House told Reuters that “the president obviously [was] very nervous and afraid” of firing Bannon. Reports have varied as to whether Bannon was fired or resigned, with the white supremacist-supporting former Chief Strategist returning to Breitbart, the far right wing website he co-founded.

“I built a f***ing machine at Breitbart,” Bannon said following his departure.  “And now I’m about to go back, knowing what I know, and we’re about to rev that machine up. And rev it up we will do.”
