Trump Asserts ‘This is Not a Vacation’ as Snapchat, Instagram Users Chronicle Their Day With Him (Video)

‘He’s Less Orange Than I Expected’

Donald Trump took to Twitter Saturday evening to declare that his 17-day excursion to the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster was “not a vacation.”

“Working in Bedminster, N.J., as long planned construction is being done at the White House,” the president wrote. “This is not a vacation – meetings and calls!”

As of today, the 197th day of his presidency, Donald Trump has spent 60 days at his properties and 45 at his golf properties, drawing frequent criticism—and as The Washington Post pointed out:

“Don’t take vacations. What’s the point? If you’re not enjoying your work, you’re in the wrong job,” said Donald Trump knowingly in 2004. “Barack Obama played golf yesterday. Now he heads to a 10-day vacation on Martha’s Vineyard. Nice work ethic,” observed Donald Trump sarcastically in 2010. “President Obama is about to embark on a 17-day vacation in his ‘native’ Hawaii,” exclaimed Donald Trump incredulously in 2013. “I would not be a president who took vacations,” promised Donald Trump confidently in 2015. “I’m going to vacation for the next 17 days at a New Jersey golf resort with my name on it,” whispered Donald Trump, probably, in 2017.

But amidst the president’s assertions tonight, social media users on Instagram and Snapchat chronicled Trump’s day, as pointed out on Twitter:

“Making weddings great again since August 5, 2017,” one Snapchat user wrote. “And also, a run in with 45, which was .. interesting. He’s less orange than I expected.”

The president also greeted wedding guests, as captured in video below, before heading back to his golf cart:

Make Vacations Great Again.
