Trump and Pence Praise Bannon for ‘Distinction’ and ‘Service’ Following Ouster

“It Was Great!”

The president and vice president took to Twitter early Saturday to praise ousted White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon and thank him for his service.

Reports have varied as to whether Bannon was fired or resigned, with the white supremacist-supporter opening up to a conservative news site almost immediately after his announced departure to claim “the Trump presidency that we fought for, and won, is over.” Bannon will now return to Breitbart, the far right wing website he co-founded.

“I want to thank Steve Bannon for his service,” Trump wrote this morning. “He came to the campaign during my run against Crooked Hillary Clinton – it was great! Thanks S.”

Vice President Mike Pence soon echoed the president, retweeting Trump just an hour later. “Steve served POTUS Trump with distinction,” he wrote. “I value his friendship and contributions. Thank you, Steve!”

“I built a f***ing machine at Breitbart,” Bannon said following his departure.  “And now I’m about to go back, knowing what I know, and we’re about to rev that machine up. And rev it up we will do.”
