Are Secretary of State’s Days Numbered?
After Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s stunning remarks on Sunday, telling Fox News President Trump speaks only for President Trump and not for the American people, are his days at Foggy Bottom numbered?
“I don’t believe anyone doubts the American people’s values, or the commitment of the American government, or the governments agencies to advancing those values and defending those values,†Tillerson told “Fox News Sunday.” Â
“And the president’s values?†host Chris Wallace asked.
“The president speaks for himself, Chris,†Tillerson responded, stunning Wallace, and viewers.
Axios on Sunday night reported “Trump frustration with Tillerson rising fast,” and “growing louder by the day.”
One time recently, after Trump had returned from a meeting on Afghanistan, a source recalled Trump saying, “Rex just doesn’t get it, he’s totally establishment in his thinking.”
Monday morning, Axios was out with a follow-up report: “Tillerson switcheroo may happen sooner than expected.”Â
Noting “no replacement of SecState Rex Tillerson is imminent,” Axios’ Mike Allen reported, “some switcheroo may happen sooner than expected.”
