NRA Spokesperson Goes on Twitter Tirade After US Rep Says Gun Group Becoming ‘Domestic Security Threat’
‘When Will Your Secret Police Arrive to Arrest Me and Everyone Else?’Â Dana Loesch Asks Congresswoman
Democratic U.S. Congresswoman Kathleen Rice says the NRA and its spokesperson are becoming “domestic security threats,” and she’s under attack as a result. Rep. Rice took to Twitter Thursday night to blast the gun lobbying group and Dana Loesch, a conservative commentator and former Breitbart editor-in-chief whose recent ads for the group of firearms manufacturers have come under criticism for what some feel is rhetoric so extreme or “provocative” at least one video is “a hair away from inciting violence.”
Thursday evening Rep. Rice, who serves a district in Long Island, New York, accused Loesch and the NRA of “lying” after Loesch defended the NRA’s lack of response to the police killing of Philando Castile last year.
Defending the NRA, Loesch Thursday said Castile was “in possession of a controlled substance and a firearm simultaneously, which is illegal.”
“Stop lying,” she tweeted.
Rep. Rice decided to weigh in.
So if a white guy was shot dead during a routine stop w/ a legal gun & a joint in his car, #NRA would stay silent? You’re the ones lying. https://t.co/K1KkN4SbJs

And then, this:
I’m just going to say it. #NRA & @DLoesch are quickly becoming domestic security threats under President Trump. We can’t ignore that.

Loesch, who is quick to respond to criticism or attacks, and wields an army of almost 600,000 followers, launched into a Twitter tirade.
In a series of tweets Loesch waged an attack on Rep. Rice, more than half a dozen directly mentioning the Congresswoman, in a 14-hour period.
Loesch, who seems unaware that the company she works for is not a class of people but a lobbying organization that exists to support gun manufacturers, has pinned this to the top of her Twitter page:
Rephrase: An elected gov’t official just labeled me and millions of others “domestic security threats.†Wow. https://t.co/lLtPITC0qC

There’s a difference between the NRA, an organization, and NRA members, the majority of whom do not support the NRA’s position background checks and other gun control issues.
For example, 74% of NRA members support requiring background checks for all gun sales. The NRA is opposed.
“Only a small fraction of the nation’s gun owners are NRA members,” The Washington Post reported in 2015. “Even among NRA members, there is widespread dissent from some key points of the organization’s orthodoxy. And on many gun control issues, the majority of gun owners who aren’t affiliated with the NRA hold opinions closer to those of non-gun owners than to those of NRA members.”
Much more has been written on how the NRA’s position on background checks does not reflect those of the majority of America’s gun owners, or even the majority of NRA members. And some disapprove of its tactics.
Meanwhile here’s a selection of tweets Loesch has posted since Thursday evening attacking the Rep. Rice:
. @RepKathleenRice when will your secret police arrive to arrest me and everyone else?
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) August 11, 2017
. @RepKathleenRice , will ur secret police wear a certain uniform? I want to know who we should look for when we are all taken into custody.
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) August 11, 2017
Do these rights apply to the millions of people you just labeled “domestic security threats,†@RepKathleenRice ? https://t.co/dZyXbk1cdd
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) August 11, 2017
NRA members support #2A. Is that also illegal @RepKathleenRice ? https://t.co/wfpinQ0f3L
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) August 11, 2017
Waiting for @RepKathleenRice to say when her secret police are coming since she considers me, members more dangerous than MS-13 in her area.
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) August 11, 2017
Gosh, imagine if I said “militiant” or even mentioned anything of the sort. @RepKathleenRice would have me in jail. https://t.co/7DV5NF20Hu
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) August 11, 2017
When can I expect to be arrested, @RepKathleenRice ? Do you have enough secret security to take millions of members into custody. Honest Q.

Here’s one of Loesch’s videos for the NRA:
