13 Dead and 100 Injured in Barcelona Terror Attack Authorities Say

Multiple reports say 13 people are dead and another 100 or more are injured in what is confirmed by police to be a terror attack in Barcelona. At least 15 of the 100 are critically injured.

A large van was driven up a pedestrian mall in an area popular among tourists and locals alike. These are the latest figures as of 5:00 PM EDT, according to NBC News and Sky News, citing Spanish authorities. It is possible these figures will change. One suspect reportedly is in custody.

This ABC News report is graphic and describes the van’s actions, saying it ran over people along a 50-yeard swath of the pedestrian mall known as La Rambla.

Images posted to social media have been exceptionally graphic.

Two suspects are in custody, but the driver is believed to still be at large, according to the AP.
