‘It Really Shakes You to the Core’
James Schneider is running for a seat on Florida’s Cape Coral City Council and the KKK is trying to stop him. He says he and his partner received a chilling letter at their home, threatening them.Â
“We know where you live, f*gg*t,” it reads. “We are going to win. Quit now.”

“When you girls least expect it We will be here for a nice visit. Like Semores [sic]?” it ends.
It’s signed “EMPEROR PAUL LAMONICA” and even includes an email, website, and P.O. Box address.
“I kind of dropped it,” Schneider tells NBC 2 News. “I didn’t know what to do with that. I was spooked by it immediately. It really shakes you to the core.”
He posted photos of the letter to his Facebook page, one day after telling supporters he was making “serious decisions” about the race, and was “shaken but not beaten.” Schneider said he would tell them why soon.
“We’ve experienced an upsetting situation in the past days, which caused us to pull in, make serious decisions about our future, this campaign, etc.” Schneider wrote on Tuesday. “The media is involved and will be sharing in the coming days… We are shaken but not beaten. Watch for details in the coming days. Thank you so much for those who have huddled around us at this time.Â
We live in a messed up country.”
On Wednesday, Schneider posted several news reports and then the images (above.)
“So here it is,” he wrote. “They got their opportunity to scare us, but not quitting this election. I am the qualified candidate, not the popular one.”
Schneider tells NBC 2 News, “I don’t want sympathy votes; I want votes on the fact that I’m a better-qualified candidate.”Â
Earlier this week NCRM reported on a same-sex couple who received a letter filled with anti-gay slurs, threatening the lives of their family, again, because they are gay.
