‘It’s the Right Thing To Do’: Counter-Protestor Escorts Trump Supporters Through Tense Boston Crowds
‘We’re All Part of the Same Country’
Thousands of counter-protestors dwarfed the “libertarians, conservatives, traditionalists, classical liberals and Trump supporters†attending a “free speech†rally in Boston today, but one in particular caught the eye of a Boston Globe reporter.Â
The young woman identified as Imani, who wore an “America Needs Nasty Women†t-shirt and was attending the counter-protest from Connecticut, was spotted by the Globe’s Steve Annear. “This is Imani, from CT,†the reporter wrote. “She just escorted Trump supporters through a crowd as a situation escalated.â€

The reporter then shared Imani’s words.
“I know people are heated but I think it’s better to have them on that side of the fence,†Imani told Annear, who noted she guided “several Trump supporters through a swelling crowd where they were getting yelled at and in one case spit on.â€
“It’s the right thing to do at the end of the day,†Imani continued. “We’re all part of the same country. It’s unfortunate what’s happening but the response we should have is to be nonviolent.â€
“You know I don’t believe in this right wing narrative of ‘alt left’ and how we are crazed and looking to get violent. What better way to show them that they are wrong?†she asked.Â
“I couldn’t get through a KKK rally with the same treatment,†the young woman said. “But we shouldn’t be like them.â€
