Watch: In Rare Public Statement Jared Kushner Insists He ‘Did Not Collude With Russia’

‘I Do Not Know of Anyone Else in the Campaign Who Did So’

White House Senior Advisor Jared Kushner in a doubly-rare public statement told reporters Monday afternoon he “did not collude with Russia,” and repeated the claim he made in written remarks that he does not “know of anyone else in the campaign who did so.”

The short address, delivered from outside the White House, follows his closed-door meeting with Senate Intelligence Committee staffers Monday morning, which lasted about two hours. That meeting was not testimony under oath, which some feel robs the American people of full disclosure.

As CBS News White House Correspondent Mark Knoller noted on Twitter, it is very rare for a White House staffer to be allowed to address reporters behind a podium with a White House logo.

It’s also rare because Kushner has not spoken before cameras many times. On social media some noted they were looking forward to hear what his voice sounds like.

“All of my actions were proper,” Kushner said, repeating remarks from the published text of his statement to the Senate Intelligence Committee.

But in a stunning swipe at the media, Kushner also said that he was proud to have worked on the Trump campaign and that Trump won because he had a better message. He added that suggesting otherwise “ridicules those who voted for him.”
