Says He’s Proud of ‘Genuine’ President
Homeland Security Adviser Thomas Bossert appeared on ABC’s “This Week†this morning, where he defended Donald Trump’s decision to tweet a video of himself physically attacking the CNN logo superimposed onto another man’s head.
“There’s a lot of cable news shows that reach directly into hundreds of thousands of viewers and they’re really not always fair to the president,†Bossert told co-anchor Martha Raddatz. “I’m pretty proud of the president for developing a Twitter and a social media platform where he can talk directly to the American people.â€Â
“In fact,†he continued, “he’s the most genuine president, and the most non-politician president that we’ve seen in my lifetime—and he’s demonstrated a genuine ability to communicate to the people.â€Â
Raddatz pressed Bossert on the issue, noting that he’s in charge of Homeland Security and the video could be perceived as a threat.
“Certainly not,†Bossert said. “I hope that no one would perceive that as a threat, I hope they don’t. But I do think that he’s beaten up in a way on cable platforms that he as a right to respond to.â€
