Watch: Former US Presidential Candidate Jill Stein Defends North Korea and Russia Instead of America

‘The Demonization of North Korea Is Part of the Run-Up to Regime Change’ Stein Claims

In a jaw-dropping interview with MSNBC Dr. Jill Stein defended the nuclear actions and policies of North Korea, Russia, and by extension, China, while chastising the United States for “demonizing” the Pyongyang-based totalitarian dictatorship. 

Stein told MSNBC Sunday, “the U.S. was conducting nuclear bombing runs against North Korea,” “long before” North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un began missile tests, she claimed.

“We actually had nuclear weapons until the end of the Cold War, we actually had nuclear weapons stationed in South Korea,” Dr. Stein, the former Green Party candidate for president of the United States said. “So this is very frightening to them, they’ve been basically cornered into feeling like they have to develop a nuclear weapon.”

South Korea “has lived under the threat of war for decades now, they’re really tired of it,” Stein continued. “They would like to move ahead by negotiating a peace treaty, and, you know, the demonization of North Korea is part of the run-up to regime change. We saw it in Iraq, we saw it in Libya, it’s part of demonizing a government that we then want to exercise regime change on, and then what do we get? You know, look at our track record here, it’s not so good,” she said, conflating different scenarios.

Dr. Stein could use a history lesson.

“North Korea announced Friday that it is withdrawing from the nuclear non-proliferation treaty, but does not intend to produce nuclear weapons,” CNN reported in 2003. The statement from North Korea, 14 years ago, CNN added, “said Pyongyang ‘declares its total freedom from the binding force of the safeguards accord with the International Atomic Energy Agency.'”

Despite its pullout from the NPT, North Korea pledged to limit its nuclear activities to “peaceful purposes.”

That clearly was a lie. North Korea last week tested an ICBM missile it says can reach all of the mainland United States, while scientists say that’s an exaggeration, but clearly is their goal. Experts believe North Korea will be able to launch a missile, possibly armed with a nuclear weapon, capable of reaching the U.S. next year.

It is stunning a former presidential candidate would side with the totalitarian dictatorship, one of if not the most brutal regimes of the 21st century, not to mention supporting both Russia and China over the U.S.

Stein is also calling for the end of the deployment of a U.S. missile defense system based in and protecting South Korea.

Noting that “a good chunk of Twitter is calling Stein a ‘Russia puppet,‘” Bustle’s Seth Millstein reported Stein on MSNBC “pointed out the vulnerability of America’s election systems, condemned the ‘demonization’ of the North Korean government, and said that the evidence of Russian interference in the election ‘is not definitive.’ She also criticized the latest round of of U.S. sanctions against Russia, claiming without elaboration that ‘sanctions only strengthen a leader.'”

Stein argued that South Korea and the U.S. were guilty of provoking North Korea, not the other way around. But she didn’t acknowledge that, unlike North Korea, South Korea hasn’t developed its own nuclear weapons, withdrawn from the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty, or conducted intercontinental ballistics missile tests that violate United Nations resolutions. 

(Incidentally, South Korea also doesn’t imprison its own citizens in Soviet-style gulags, as North Korea does, although the interview didn’t touch on that).

Stein last week was named by the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, which requested from Donald Trump Jr. all of his communications with the former presidential candidate, among others.

This now infamous photo has been used by many to show Stein at the same RT dinner as the now-former, fired Trump National Security Advisor Mike Flynn, and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Stein, via Twitter, repeatedly has blasted claims she has any links to Russia, while also denying Russia interfered in the U.S. election:
