Trump Returns to D.C. (Briefly) to Appear with Pastor That’s Linked Gays to Pedophilia and His ‘Many Evangelical Friends’

Donald Trump, currently on a weekend getaway (his 33rd visit to one of his golf courses since taking office 23 weeks ago) will return to D.C. to attend the “Celebrate Freedom Concert†with Robert Jeffress, the megachurch pastor well-known for his vehemently disgusting homophobia.  Following the event, the president will return to his golf course.
The president took to Twitter for the second time today, this time to advertise the concert. “Getting [ready] to leave for tonight’s Celebrate Freedom Concert honoring our GREAT VETERANS w/ so many of my evangelical friends,†Trump wrote. “See you soon!â€

Of note, “including a tribute to our veterans†is indeed indicated far below, and far less prominently than, Donald Trump and the anti-gay pastor. Jeffress is the only “evangelical friend†to share billing on the event’s flyer with Trump.
The concert, Trump’s attendance and his advertisement of it continues the president’s track record of pandering for the evangelical vote, particularly after he opted to ignore Pride Month. Jeffress has linked homosexuality to both pedophilia and disease.
“What [homosexuals] do is filthy. It is so degrading that is beyond description,†Jeffress has previously said. “And it is their filthy behavior that explains why they are so much more prone to disease.â€
“Amazingly, some gay activists don’t try to hide the link between homosexuality and pedophilia,†the pastor has also said. “There are a disproportionate amount of assaults against children by homosexuals… and the reason is clear: homosexuality is perverse; it represents a degradation of a person’s mind.â€
Jeffress also led a prayer session for Donald Trump prior to his inauguration, has frequently praised the president, visited the White House to share a Kodak moment with the president in May, and even called him “the most faith-friendly president in history.â€
Following his advertisement of tonight’s concert, Donald Trump resumed his attack on the free press, boasting that he won the election despite the “fake and fraudulent news media†and further attacking CNN.
The FAKE & FRAUDULENT NEWS MEDIA is working hard to convince Republicans and others I should not use social media – but remember, I won….

….the 2016 election with interviews, speeches and social media. I had to beat #FakeNews, and did. We will continue to WIN!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 1, 2017
I am thinking about changing the name #FakeNews CNN to #FraudNewsCNN!

It remains unclear what the president’s “many evangelical friends†would think of his subsequent attacks.
