Sarah Huckabee Sanders: Donald Trump Jr. Didn’t Collude With Anyone Despite Meeting Russian Lawyer Linked to Kremlin

Huckabee-Sanders Attacks ‘Leakers’

The president’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., “did not collude with anybody to influence the election,” Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters Monday afternoon in an off-camera press briefing that only allowed audio recordings for later use. The New York Times this weekend published two bombshell reports detailing that Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, and Paul Manafort all attended a meeting last year during the presidential race with a Russian attorney linked to the Kremlin.

Sanders, the White House Deputy Spokesperson, told reporters President Donald Trump only in the “past couple of days” learned of the meeting with the Russian attorney, which Trump Jr. said he attended with the intent of obtaining damaging information on his father’s Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton.

White House correspondent for Yahoo News, Hunter Walker, also reports Huckabee-Sanders said the “only thing inappropriate” about Trump Jr.’s meeting is “the people who leaked” details.

A DC Examiner editor responds via Twitter:

“Don Jr. took a very short meeting, from which there was absolutely no followup,” Huckabee-Sanders said. She also claimed the DNC “coordinated opposition research” with the Ukrainian embassy.

Many have said it seems unlikely that a meeting between the President’s eldest son, son-in-law, campaign manager, and a Russian tied to the Kremlin would have not been shared with then-candidate Trump.

“Events surrounding Trump Jr.‘s Russia meeting reveal how June 9 changed the direction of the 2016 election,” Raw Story also reports.
