Republican Congressman Says if GOP ‘Female Senators’ Opposing ObamaCare Repeal Were Men He’d Shoot Them

‘Absolutely Repugnant’ That ‘Some Female Senators’ Don’t Have the ‘Courage’ to Repeal ObamaCare Says Rep. Farenthold

Republican U.S. Congressman Blake Farenthold is attacking the three U.S. Senators who prevented an ObamaCare repeal bill last week from advancing to a full Senate vote. GOP Senators Susan Collins of Maine, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, all made clear the bill would not have their support, among others, effectively killing it even before a vote was called.

Rep. Farenthold of Texas is none too pleased.

He says it is “absolutely repugnant” that the Senators don’t have the “courage” to do things, like repeal ObamaCare, that every Republican “promised to do,” as ThinkProgress’ Aaron Rupar reports. It also would have stripped health care coverage from 32 million people.

Farenthold, who in 2014 reportedly settled a sexual harassment lawsuit, went on, saying if the women were men, he would challenge them to a duel, and shoot them.

“Some of the people that are opposed to [repealing Obamacare] — there are some female senators from the northeast,” Farenthold told a Corpus Christi station Friday. “If it was a guy from south Texas I might ask them to step outside and settle this Aaron Burr-style.”

Burr infamously killed his rival, Alexander Hamilton, in a dual.

“The list of GOP lawmakers expressing opposition to the Republican’s healthcare proposal,” Politico notes, “is also far from limited to just women: Sens. Mike Lee (R-Utah), Rand Paul (R-Ky.), Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) and Dean Heller (R-Nev.) have also voiced concerns throughout the legislative process.”

Farenthold is 55 and first won his seat in 2010.

Last year Farenthold could not bring himself to denounce Donald Trump’s misogynistic “grab them” remarks:
