REPORTS: White House Says Trump Will Make a Decision ‘Soon’ on Attorney General’s Future

Sessions Refusing to Quit – Will Trump Fire Him? Will GOP Lawmakers Take Any Action?

The White House says President Donald Trump will make a decision “soon” on the fate of his Attorney General, Jeff Sessions. International news agency Agence France-Presse (AFP) was the first to report the news. NBC News reports a White House spokesman has said, “we’ll get to a resolution shortly” on the future of the “tension” between the President and the Attorney General.

But other reports make clear President Trump will have to fire Sessions, or demand his resignation.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions has no plans to leave office as friends say he’s grown angry with President Donald Trump following a series of attacks meant to marginalize his power and, potentially, encourage his resignation,” the Daily Beast reported just before noon Tuesday.

“Sessions is totally pissed off about it,” said a Sessions ally familiar with his thinking. “It’s beyond insane. It’s cruel and it’s insane and it’s stupid.”

“He’s not going anywhere,” said another Sessions ally. “He is not going to resign. What he is accomplishing is way too important to the country.”

The Daily Beast adds that “Sessions insiders predict that the Attorney General call Trump’s bluff.”

If that means Trump backs down, or just continues to attack without firing, is something only the future will tell.

But there’s more.

“President Trump’s administration has seen the firing or resignation of an acting attorney general, a national security adviser, an FBI director, a communications director, a director of the Office of Government Ethics, a press secretary and dozens of U.S. attorneys,” The Washington Post reports late Tuesday morning.

The Post reports Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, and National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster are either considering resigning or on the list of possible firings.

President Trump is still working his cell phone, tweeting attacks as recently as Tuesday morning, against Sessions. Last Wednesday Trump shared his anger with The New York Times, expressing his frustration that the Attorney General recused himself over Russia.
