To Mark His Six Months as President Trump Releases Chilling Religious Nationalism Campaign-Style Video

‘In America, We Don’t Worship Government, We Worship God’ Trump Says 

On his six month anniversary of being sworn in to office, President Donald Trump has just released a campaign-style “advertisement” that is filled with religious, nationalistic, and militaristic themes. The video, presumably paid for with tax dollars, shows the president speaking before national and international audiences, pushing his “America First” mantra.

“From this day forward, a new vision will govern our land,” Trump can be heard saying in the video, which is actually audio clipped from his chilling inauguration speech. “From this day forward, it’s going to be only, ‘America First.’

“Think of the marvels we can achieve if we simply set free the dreams of our people,” the Trump voiceover says, a clip from his joint address before Congress in February.

“In America, we don’t worship government, we worship God,” the video continues, a cut from his July 1 “Celebrate Freedom” speech at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts.

“A better future is only possible if your nations drive out the terrorists and extremists,” Trump, in a May speech to Muslim leaders, says. “Drive them out of this earth.”

The video shows him in Israel, and at the Western Wall, also called the Wailing Wall.

It continues with him talking about religion during his speech in Poland. And it moves on to a speech he delivered in Italy: “The men and women of the United States’ military have been the greatest force for peace and justice in the history of the world.”

“It’s time for a grateful nation to join hands, with our police and with our sheriffs, to build the bridges of cooperation and trust, and to make our streets safer for every man, woman and child in America.

The video nearly three and a half minutes, closes with, “I am asking all citizens to believe in yourselves, believe in your future, and believe, once more, in America.” Trump posts those words in his tweet. An “#AmericaFirst” hashtag follows.

Nationalism. Religion. Militarism. 

This is what the seeds of fascism look like.

In this video Trump has the gall to take a victory lap despite having no real achievements. His nascent administration has been torn daily by scandal after scandal after scandal. This video is an embarrassment, and every American has paid for it, with our tax dollars, our outrage, our disappointment, our fear, and our anger.
