Jeanine Pirro Thinks Her Morals Reflect Those of Politicians Who Actually Believe in Serving the American People
Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, a former elected official, says she would head straight to hell if the devil offered her opposition research on her opponent. “Judge Jeanine,” as she is called, is a former county judge and former county district attorney who ran against Hillary Clinton for a U.S. Senate seat but pulled out after polls showed Clinton beating her by a two-to-one margin.
“As someone who’s run for office five times, if the Devil called me and said he wanted to set up a meeting to give me opposition research on my opponent, I’d be on the first trolley to Hell to get it,†Pirro told her “Justice with Judge Jeanine” views Sunday, in a full-throated attempt to defend Donald Trump Jr. “And any politician who tells you otherwise is a bald-faced liar.â€
And in a stunning statement that any attorney worth their salt will tell you is at best misleading, Pirro offered this additional defense of the president’s son.
“There is no law that says a campaign cannot accept information from a foreign government,†“Judge Jeanine said.
While there may be no law specifically banning a campaign from accepting information from a foreign government, there are laws that ban foreign governments and individuals from donating anything of value to campaigns, and courts have ruled information is extremely valuable.Â
“The Federal Election Campaign Act makes it illegal for any foreign national to contribute, donate, or spend funds on any election in the United States by any foreign national,” The Hill, reporting on Pirro’s claims, reported Sunday night. “That includes foreign governments, political parties, corporations and individuals with foreign citizenship.”
Pirro’s remarks on issues of right and wrong likely should be taken with a grain of salt.
In October of 2006 The New York Times reported, “Jeanine F. Pirro’s announcement last week that she was the subject of a federal investigation into whether she illegally taped her husband’s conversations was the kind of disclosure that might have led some candidates to retreat from the public stage, at least for a period of time.” Pirro allegedly was looking for evidence of adultery, but Pirro’s husband went to jail for tax evasion and conspiracy,Â
The following year, The New York Daily News reported, “Shortly before the [2006] election, Pirro came under investigation after she was taped angrily talking to an old buddy – now-indicted former city Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik – about bugging the family boat to see if her husband was fooling around with his defense lawyer’s wife.”
Kerik was later convicted and became a felon. Before he went to jail the prison had to remove his name from the outer walls of the Bernard B. Kerik Complex, a New York City detention center.
There are, of course, many more details, but one Pirro neglected to reveal in her defense Sunday of the president’s son: Trump donated to Pirro’s 2006 campaign.
Fox News viewers might not care, but the rest of America does.
