Trump Jr Said Clinton Camp Was Lying About Russia Weeks After Email Setting Up Meeting With Russian Gov’t Attorney

‘I Can’t Think of Bigger Lies, but That Exactly Goes to Show You What the DNC and What the Clinton Camp Will Do’ Trump Jr. Accused

Minutes ago Donald Trump Jr., in an effort to get ahead of a New York Times report, posted what he says is the entire email thread detailing his plans to meet with a Russian government attorney for the expressed purpose of obtaining negative information on Hillary Clinton. The first email in that exchange was dated June 3.

In that email and emails to follow, Trump Jr. was told, “The Crown prosecutor of Russia met with” the father of Russian pop star Emin “this morning and in their meeting offered to provide the Trump campaign with some official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father.”

The emails also say, “This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump.”

Just to repeat, the email said specifically it was “part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump.”

Trump Jr. responded “within minutes,” the Times reports. He said, “If it’s what you say I love it especially later in the summer.”

To be clear, this is evidence that Donald Trump Jr. knowingly set up a meeting with a Russian government official to obtain incriminating information against his father’s Democratic opponent in a tight presidential race.

This is the Trump campaign, some would say, attempting to collude with the Russian government.

And yet, even though the Clinton campaign accused the Trump campaign of working with Russia, the Trump campaign denied it. And not only denied it, but exactly three weeks after that first email, Donald Trump Jr. Appeared on CNN and called Robby Mook, the Clinton campaign manager, and the rest of the campaign, liars.

On July 24, 2016 CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union” told Trump Jr. Robby Mook “seemed to be suggesting that this is part of a plot to help Donald Trump and hurt Hillary Clinton.” He asked him for his response.

“Well, it just goes to show you their exact moral compass,” Trump Jr. Told Tapper. “I mean, they will say anything to be able to win this. I mean, this is time and time again, lie after lie. You notice he won’t say, well, I say this. ‘We hear experts.'”

“You know, his cat at home once said that this is what’s happening with the Russians. It’s disgusting. It’s so phony. I watched him bumble through the interview, I was able to hear it on audio a little bit. I mean, I can’t think of bigger lies, but that exactly goes to show you what the DNC and what the Clinton camp will do. They will lie and do anything to win,” the now-president’s eldest son accused.

Trump Jr. continued, saying, “I don’t mind a fair fight, but these lies and the perpetuating of that kind of nonsense to try, you know, gain some political capital is just outrageous and he should be ashamed of himself. If a Republican did that they would be calling for people to bring out the electric chair.”

Now, thanks to The New York Times, we know it’s Trump Jr. whose “moral compass” is off and “will lie and do anything to win.”
