Breaking: Spicer Quits. Update: Spicer Tweets
‘Vehemently’ Objected to Appointment of New Communications Director
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer has just tendered his resignation, minutes after President Donald Trump hired Anthony Scaramucci to be Spicer’s Communications Director.
According to the New York Times’ Glenn Thrush, Spicer “vehemently” objected to the appointment.

Spicer had been embattled from the very start. Trump had not wanted to appoint him press secretary, but did so honoring his Chief of Staff Reince Priebus’ wishes.
Trump went so far as to berate Spicer for his choice of suits, and reportedly closely watched Spicer’s performances during the daily press briefings.
Spicer was forced to apologize earlier this year when he claimed Hitler didn’t gas his own people and called concentration camps “Holocaust centers.”
President Trump was furious when Melissa McCarthy portrayed Spicer on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” primarily because he was being mocked by a woman.
The White House has not held an on-camera press briefing since June 29.
Former Senior Advisor to President Obama, Dan Pfeiffer weighed in:
Spicer was fine with all the lying, chaos, corruption and personal embarrassment but the new communications director was a bridge too far?

UPDATE:
Spicer tweets:
It’s been an honor & a privilege to serve @POTUS @realDonaldTrump & this amazing country. I will continue my service through August
