‘Potentially Treason’: Tim Kaine Says Russia Investigation Is Now ‘Beyond Obstruction of Justice’ (Video)

‘It’s a Treason Investigation’

Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) says the investigation into Russia’s interference in the November presidential election is moving into even more serious areas.

“The investigation — it’s not, nothing is proven yet,” Kaine told reporters late Tuesday morning, asked if it is treason, “but we’re now beyond obstruction of justice in terms of what’s being investigated.”

The former Democratic vice presidential candidate added the investigation “is moving into perjury, false statements and even potentially treason.”

CNN cites the bombshell revelations from the New York Times, on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, resulting in reporting that says Donald Trump Jr. not only met with a Russian attorney linked to the Kremlin in order to obtain damaging information against Hillary Clinton, but knew the information was from the Kremlin. The news network reports those new facts have “shifted the level of rhetoric,” and changed the perception among even Republicans on Capitol Hill.

“To meet with an adversary to try to get information to hijack democracy,” Kaine continued, according to the Washington Examiner. “The investigation is now more than just obstruction of justice in investigation. It’s more than just a perjury investigation. It’s a treason investigation.”

“We don’t know the answer to the question yet. An investigation is not that same as ultimately something that’s going to lead to charges but that’s what this investigation is,” Kaine added.
