WATCH: Ambassador Nikki Haley Says Trump Believes Climate is Changing

Haley Said Trump “Doing Everything We Can to Keep America’s Moral Compass in the World”

U.S. ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley appeared today on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” telling moderator John Dickerson that Donald Trump “believes the climate is changing, and he believes pollutants are a part of that equation.”

The (sadly) breaking news follows Donald Trump’s decision just two days ago to withdraw the United States from the historic Paris Agreement to battle climate change.

Donald Trump has infamously denied climate change in the past, calling it a hoax created by the Chinese, something Dickerson pointed out to the ambassador:

“Just to clear up a little confusion,” Dickerson pressed Haley, “he believes that human activity – which creates those pollutants – leads to climate change.”

“John, I just gave you the answer,” Haley responded, “I mean, that’s what he believes. And so, that’s as clear as I know to give it. We can all weigh this out, but at the end of the day, watch what the president does.”

Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement left the United States as one of three nations abstaining from the historic agreement, joining only Nicaragua and Syria. “He is absolutely intent on making sure that we have clean air, clean water – that he makes sure we’re doing everything we can to keep America’s moral compass in the world when it comes to the environment,” Haley said.

Haley will also appear on CNN’s “State of the Union” tomorrow, where Jake Tapper will further press her on the matter. In a preview of the exchange, Haley echoed her interview with Dickerson.
