WATCH: Trump Announces Suspected Shooter of GOP Congressman Is Dead

Trump: Suspect ‘Has Now Died From His Injuries’

President Donald Trump delivered a statement on Wednesday morning’s shooting of GOP Majority Whip Steve Scalise and several others at a practice baseball session for a bipartisan charity event. Trump broke news, announcing that the suspect, James T. Hodgkinson, “has now died from his injuries.”

No news agency had previously reported the suspect had died.

President Trump also said, “Many lives would have been lost if not for the heroic actions of the two Capitol Police Officers.” At least one of those two officers was wounded by the suspect as they battled to protect Rep. Scalise and others at the ball park.
