WATCH: Kellyanne Conway Says $800 Billion in Cuts to Medicaid ‘Are Not Cuts to Medicaid’

‘We Don’t See Them as Cuts’

Kellyanne Conway says the Senate health care bill, which dramatically harms the poorest and most in need Americans by cutting $800 billion from Medicaid, does not cut Medicaid.

“These are not cuts to Medicaid,” Conway told ABC News “This Week” host George Stephanopoulos Sunday morning. “We don’t see them as cuts, it’s slowing the rate of growth in the future and getting Medicaid back to where it was,” she added.

The Counselor to President Trump added it “slows the rate for the future and it allows governors more flexibility with Medicaid dollars, because they’re closest to the people in need.”

The Trump administration’s end-game in nearly all actions is to eliminate federal government agencies and programs. As The Washington Post reported, Trump Chief Strategist Steve Bannon has said the goal is the “deconstruction of the administrative state.”

Analysts say the Senate health care bill could ultimately kill Medicaid for good.

“The Republican measure phases out the federal funding for ObamaCare’s expansion of Medicaid, which has provided coverage for about 11 million people in 31 states,” The Hill notes.

The Senate Bill has not yet been scored by the CBO but the House version will kick 23 million people off their health care. For Americans with employer-based plans it allows the elimination of ObamaCare’s ban on lifetime caps, meaning health care could become drastically expensive for many who think the current legislation does not affect them.
