Trump Offers Support to U.K. After Exploiting London Terror Incidents as ‘Need’ for Muslim Travel Ban

“We Need the Courts to Give Us Back our Rights”

Though the U.K.’s Metropolitan Police have only just confirmed that the two reported incidents unfolding in London are terrorist incidents, Donald Trump was quick to exploit the events to push his proposed Muslim travel ban.

First, the President of the United States retweeted a report from the conservative, right-wing Drudge Report which prematurely used the words “terror attack” –

Following this, Trump moved onto his proposed Muslim travel ban. Unsurprising, since this week the Trump administration’s Justice Department requested the Supreme Court hear its appeal of an appellate court’s decision to uphold a U.S. District Court’s ruling that blocked the the ban from going into effect.

“We need to be smart, vigilant and tough,” Trump tweeted. “We need the courts to give us back our rights. We need the Travel Ban as an extra level of safety!”

Finally, a full eight minutes later, and quite some time after his initial retweet, Trump offered the United States’ assistance. “Whatever the United States can do to help out in London and the U. K., we will be there – WE ARE WITH YOU. GOD BLESS!”
