‘You Should Know’: Trump Mocked for Tweet Attacking Democrats for ‘Obstruction’
‘Obstruction Doesn’t Work!’
President Donald Trump took a victory lap Wednesday morning, after Republicans won both special House races Tuesday night. The GOP had feared the president’s historically low approval ratings and their utter and total inability to pass any meaningful laws under Trump would lead to Democratic wins, but that was not the case.
After posting tweets congratulating Karen Handel and Ralph Norman, Trump took a victory lap:
Well, the Special Elections are over and those that want to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN are 5 and O! All the Fake News, all the money spent = 0
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 21, 2017
And then, he attacked:
Democrats would do much better as a party if they got together with Republicans on Healthcare,Tax Cuts,Security. Obstruction doesn’t work!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 21, 2017
But many on Twitter were only too happy to fight back:
POLITICO Magazine Editor in chief pointed out perhaps the best example of why Trump is wrong:
Ask Mitch McConnell if obstruction works. https://t.co/60HfGgGPR2

This Gizmodo writer makes a good point:
There’s a very real chance that Trump doesn’t know his own party controls both the House and Senate. https://t.co/rkQ3XraN0X

As does this Washington Post politics blogger:
It is obvious @realDonaldTrump has no idea what’s in GOP health plan, and zero grasp of the basic argument between the parties over it. https://t.co/QzqDiQi5qB

And this VICE journalist:
By the way, obstruction DOES work! Or have you literally passed no serious legislation whatsoever in the last 5 months?
— Jules Suzdaltsev (@jules_su) June 21, 2017
Others had fun taking shots at Trump for his own possible obstruction of justice:
And you are right. Obstruction doesn’t work. Ask Mueller about it.
— Tony Posnanski (@tonyposnanski) June 21, 2017
Tell us more about attempting obstruction https://t.co/UXKSd4RVP9

If I were @realDonaldTrump s lawyer, I’d strongly recommend that he stops using the word obstruction in public!
— Max (@maxra001) June 21, 2017
Obstruction doesn’t work? You should know.
— Lehcario (@lehcario) June 21, 2017
He learned the word “obstruction” a couple weeks ago and is really pressed to use it.

You would know! Being investigated for obstruction and all….
