Trump Goes on Early Morning Attack on ‘Fake News’ While Rapidly Retweeting ‘Fox & Friends’

White House Overnight Threatened War With Syria, President Attacks CNN’s ‘FAKE NEWS!’

Monday night the Trump White House issued a mysterious and disturbing official statement out of the blue, warning the President of Syria, Bashar al Assad, if he “conducts another mass murder attack using chemical weapons, he and his military will pay a heavy price.” The warning, direct from Press Secretary Sean Spicer, claimed the U.S. “has identified potential preparations for another chemical weapons attack by the Assad regime that would likely result in the mass murder of civilians, including innocent children.”

Buzzfeed reported shortly thereafter that United States Central Command, aka CENTCOM, the main military agency in charge of U.S. Operations in the Middle East, had “no idea” what the White House was talking about.

Five US defense officials reached by BuzzFeed News said they did not know where the potential chemical attack would come from, including one US Central Command official who had “no idea” about its origin. The officials said they were unaware the White House was planning to release its statement; usually such statements are coordinated across the national security agencies and departments before they are released.

Just past 6:30 AM President Donald Trump kicked off his day not by informing the American public about the possible chemical attack, a war crime, or that U.S. troops might be launched into war, or talking about the Senate health care bill that will kick 22 million people off their coverage, but rather, that CNN is “fake news!” while he retweeted some “Fox & Friends” posts on Russia and Fox News’ claims the Democrats are the ones guilty of collusion.

6:33 AM:

The fact that CNN pulled a story and let the top reporters and editors involved in it go, and issued a retraction is the exact opposite of “fake news.” Trump, a serial liar who has apologized only once for any of his actions or lies in the past two years, is in no position to point fingers.

Minutes after his “fake news!” tweet, he quickly retweeted these posts:

The President of the United States is promoting some of the most far right wing partisan hacks in America. And it’s questionable just how ethical it is for him to be actively working to help a Fox News host sell his new book.
